The University of Louisville Hospital has indoor brick pavers in a hallway that leads to the parking garage/outside. The pavers picked up asphalt and other debris from foot traffic coming into the hallway. The hospital couldn’t keep the pavers clean and the gray grout was grossly stained beyond cleaning. The Customer wanted to improve the appearance and cleanliness of the brick pavers.

This 28-year-old porcelain floor is subject to the extremely heavy use of approximately 225,000 people per year. The facility has a dedicated tile and grout cleaning crew and equipment. To clean the floor, all the tables have to be removed from this large space. In spite of all of the effort put forth on a weekly basis, the floor still did not look clean. The Customer was looking for a solution to make the floor look better, easier to clean, and with less personnel.

Client had consistently coated terrazzo floor with 4-8 coats of wax. On a quarterly basis, a burnish and buffing was required to remove scratches and yellowing from wax applications. Annually, wax was stripped and re-applied. Client sought a long-term solution: easy to clean and maintain, and provide a high-gloss shine for appearance.
